The Spirit of Napier - Napier rises from a devastating earthquake. Click for more

Napier - levelled by earthquake in 1931, rebuilt by 1933, and now the Art Deco capital of the world.
This is the Rotary Club of Ahuriri's patch, meeting at the Quayside Restaurant at the original port of Ahuriri, now attracting the attention of land developers for luxury appartments.
President Peter Ball (pictured right) invites any Rotarian in the area taking advantage of the many attractions that Hawkes Bay holds to come to our meeting at the Quayside Restaurant 5:30pm Monday nights.

How to find us.
We are at the Quayside Restaurant in the Bluewater hotel, West Quay, Ahuriri.
From the North, leave the Expressway at the earliest opportunity and travel down through West Shore. Turn left into West Quay and proceed to the Bluewater Hotel on your left (the unmistakable circular structure held up with external cables).
From the city, follow the signs to Gisborne or Taupo. Turn right into West Quay opposite the Ahuriri Quadrant apartment complex.
Rotarian 317307 John (Jack) Dallin Dunlop QSM

We have the greatest of pleasure to announce that our Charter Member Jack Dunlop has been awarded the Queen's Service Medal in the Queen's Birthday honours for 2009.

The medal was given for "Services to astronomy and the community", and as many of you will know he has held many positions in Rotary, including that of Dustrict Governor.
He had a career in the RAF during the war navigating Lancasters above Germany (probably where his interest in Astronomy was stimulated), and since then served on many Boards and committees in service of the community.
The club is very proud to have such a member amongst our midst, and heartily congratulates him on his achievement.
