With great regret we record the passing on October 11 2008 of club member Ron Steel.
Ron joined the Ahuriri Club in 1974, and fulfilled many positions in the club including President in 1994/5.
He was also awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship for services to Rotary and the community.
A very well liked and popular member of the club, he never spoke ill of anybody, was a good friend and supporter of projects.
Ron is survived by Mavis, his dearly beloved wife, and our sympathy goes out to her in her time of sorrow.
A celebration of Ron's life was held at the Beth Shan Chapel, 157 Georges Drive, Napier at 2pm on Wednesday October 15.
Pupils at Westshore School receive the Usborne dictionaries - another most successful project of our club.

Club 40th Anniversary
PRIP Bill Boyd was here to help us celebrate the Clubs 40th anniversary.
Starting off with the opening of a new children's playground at Ahuriri on 5th October and finishing with a top class dinner at The Mission on Monday night, the weekend was a complete success.
During the dinner Charter Members Ron Morison and Jack Dunlop were granted Honorary membership, and Peter Ball was made a Paul Harris Fellow.
Bill and Lorna Boyd thoroughly enjoyed a relaxing weekend amongst Hawke's Bay hospitality.
